Choosing a Buyer's Agent

When you've decided to buy a new home, you need to start the process by seleting a buyer's agent.  Why?

First, this person will act as your advocate and guide throughout the home buying process.  And what you may not realize, is that hiring your own buyer's realtor will not cost you a dime!  He or she will be paid a portion of the listing agent's commission which is paid by the sellers.

So what does a buyer's agent do?  Here's a sample of what a buyer's real estate agent will do for you in Austin.  (Agents in other areas do similar things,  but check with your local agent for specifics.)

Your Austin, Texas Buyer's Agent will usually.
  • Provide you with information about the market in your area
  • Work with you to define your real estate preferences and needs
  • Offers neighborhood information to help you select the right areas to shop
  • Researches and takes you to homes that meet your requirements
  • Completes and files required paperwork for offers, deposits and information requests
  • Helps you to coordinate with other professionals like mortgage brokers, inspectors and repair people
  • Negotiates and acts on your behalf.
  • Acts as a problem solver with home sellers and their agents
Remember, the seller's agent is always looking out for the seller's best interest.  As the buyer, shouldn't you have the same level of service and support?

Just think of a seller's agent as the best professional service you'll never have to pay for!  Clearly, the best deal in town!
